About the Organisers University and the Department Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is one of the premier universities of national importance. (For details please visit http://www.jmi.nic.in). The department of Social Work, JMI is one of the pioneering and top five professional training institutions in India. The department offers two years full time Post Graduate professional programmes in Human Resource Management and Social Work with specialisations in Social Development and Social Welfare. Besides this the department provides Doctoral programme in Social Work and Human Resource Management and UG programme in Social Work and PGD in Management of NGOs. In recognition of the services rendered by the department, University Grants Commission (UGC) has elevated the department to the status of Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS).
Conference background The role of government and governance in social development has been one of the crucial areas of debate and discussion since many decades. There is a need to explore other approaches and innovative experiments which have been successful in making the benefits of development reach one and all. The conference aims to bring various stakeholders into a colloquium to debate and discuss policy issues and innovative practices associated with the conference theme. The stakeholders include government officials, policy makers, programme administrators, project managers, and eminent scholars.
Objectives of the Conference
Technical sessions broadly examine the relevance of public sector reforms in social sector development. The conference will include Research papers, Case studies, Policy brief, Systemic review, Secondary case review, Field observations, review of government reports, Project reports, Doctoral and Post Doctoral research results etc. Thematic area(s) of the conference are Poverty, Unemployment, Healthcare and Development, Education, Social security, Environment, Sustainable Development, Housing and Sanitation and Public Sector Reforms Strategies and selected applications. Key speakers, resource persons and participants Government officials, policy makers, project managers, eminent scholars, corporate leaders, NGO directors, consultants, representatives of donor organizations, mid & senior level managers of non profit organizations and beneficiary group(s)
Conference registration fee (please visit conference home page) and financial support In order to encourage broad assortment of professionals to contribute to this conference we look forward to provide registration fee, Expenditure on accommodation and Travel (3 tier AC) to those whose papers have been accepted for presentation and recommended by the screening committee.
Publications of Papers/Case Studies The papers will be scrutinized by an editorial committee. Only those papers which are accepted for presentation will be published. However, Abstracts/synopsis of all the papers/Cases will be published in the conference souvenir.
