Call for Papers and Cases
With the changing role of the state, the design and landscape of public policies are changing. Contemporary public management too is intensely debated across academic disciplines, as they are in different countries. The International Conference on Contemporary Debates in Public Policy and Management at IIM Calcutta to be held during 7-9 February 2013 will focus on theoretical issues of public policy and management by embracing concepts of Politics and Policy, Public Sector Reform, Public Private Partnerships, and Law and Public Policy Regulations. There would be sectoral focus on health, education, infrastructure, urban and rural development, microfinance, and energy and environment. Keynote speakers from academia and practitioners will deliberate on contemporary public sector issues, and on the gap between policies and implementation. The Conference invites papers from researchers and practitioners from a wide range of backgrounds across academics, business and the public sector. The conference also encourages researchers/ practitioners to share their experiences through case studies.
Registration
The registration fees for the conference is Rs 5,000. The registration will include cost of boarding and lodging for out-station participants.
Best Paper/ Case Awards
IIM Calcutta will present three awards of Rs 10,000 each to best submissions at the conference. The awards will be in three categories: one each in a) public policy, b) public management, and c) case study.

Last date for submission of extended abstracts (one page with title and keywords): 19 November 2012 (email your abstract to [email protected]).
Decision on abstracts to be mailed to participants: First week of December 2012
Last date for registration (online registration on IIM Calcutta website will open soon): 24 December 2012
Final paper due (for accepted abstracts): 7 January 2013
