"System of Promoting Appropriate National Dynamism for Agriculture and Nutrition"
Description: Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) is inviting qualified candidates for the position of Post-Doctoral Fellows. The Fellows will be part of the research initiative "System of Promoting Appropriate National Dynamism for Agriculture and Nutrition (SPANDAN)". SPANDAN is supported by a grant from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. A maximum of five fellowships will be offered.
The objective of the project is to undertake research on understanding the linkages between agriculture, nutrition and health in India. Research proposals are invited under this broad theme. The proposal may address knowledge gaps involving crop production and its consumption at household level, diversification of agriculture towards high value agriculture and its impact, impact of agriculture on natural resources and health, empowerment of women in agriculture and its impact on child care and nutrition, specific agricultural programme and its impact on nutrition, access to agricultural input and output markets and its impact on nutrition, etc.
Eligibility: Candidates should have a Ph. D in the appropriate discipline (Agriculture, Demography, Economics, Nutrition, Home Science, or Health). Applicants who have submitted their PhD for review and not yet been awarded their degree can also apply.
Fellowship: The duration of the fellowship will be for a period of 1 year with the possibility of extension of another 6 months. The fellows will be paid a consolidated sum of Rs 75,000 per month.
Application Process: Interested candidates may send their CV, two references, synopsis of their Ph.D. thesis (for those who have not been awarded the degree), one sample publication, and the proposed research agenda as a postdoctoral fellow under SPANDAN, along with a covering letter by email to [email protected].
Last Date: 15 August 2015. Note that applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
