Workshop on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (FPRW) and informal economy in India on 20th November 2012

Call for Papers

FPRW is the threshold to decent work as it gives fair income, security in the workplace, equal opportunities and treatment, freedom to organize and participation in decision making. India is preparing to take suitable measures to ratify the right to collective bargaining Conventions (No. 87 and 98) and the minimum age and effective abolition of child labour Conventions (No. 138 and 182) before the International Labour Conference to be held in the year 2015. The Workshop intends to examine the status of FPRW in the informal economy and further measures that are to be taken for ratifying these four ILO Conventions. Broad subthemes of the workshop: 1) Relationship between FPRW

and National Law; 2) Child labour in the informal economy; 3) Forced and Bonded Labour: problems and perspectives; 4) Discrimination in Respect of Employment, Occupation, Gender and Wages; 5) Promotion of women workers rights; 6) Global scenario on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (FPRW); 7) Enforcement of labour Laws; 8) Trade and international labour standards; 9) Decent work and informal economy; 10) Sustainable and inclusive social protection; 11) Rights de? cit in the informal economy; 12) Challenges in Rati?cation of ILO Convention 138 of 1973; 13) Rati?cation of ILO Convention 182 on Worst Forms of Child Labour.

Important Deadline: Submission of Full Paper: 8th November 2012.

Communication on Acceptance of Paper: 10th November 2012

Publication of Papers: All papers will be reviewed and papers accepted for presentation will be published in edited volume.
