Dear colleagues,
ICLEI has decided to publish a book with Springer, bringing together the most relevant findings in the growing body of work examining the connections between cities, the economy and environmental sustainability. The working title of the book is The Economics of Green Cities: World Compendium on the Green Urban Economy and it will be coming out in the first half of 2012.
The book will cover:
Principles of the green economy paradigm and relevance to cities;
Economic models: What can be shown using economic analysis and models;
Green sectors and instruments;
City level vision, action and examples for greening the urban economy.
We thought you who are working on the theme might be interest in making a contribution. We especially welcome practitioners to contribute.
We are first of all asking for abstracts of 50-200 words to be submitted by 15 November 2011. Abstracts should include tentative title, author(s), theme and content structure for the final submission.
After a review of abstracts, selected authors of submissions will be contacted and asked to submit a full contribution.
The timeline would sum up to:
15 November 2011 - 50-200 word abstract with tentative title, author(s), theme, content structure
23 December 2011 - 1500-3000 word contribution (longer versions might be possible upon agreement)
First half of 2012 - publication of the compendium
Submissions of abstracts should be made to [email protected].

ICLEI has decided to publish a book with Springer, bringing together the most relevant findings in the growing body of work examining the connections between cities, the economy and environmental sustainability.
