It's a pleasure for us to announce that the 3rd International conference of Urban Biodiversity and Design (URBIO 2012) would be organized by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in the city of Mumbai, India during 8th to 12th October, 2012.
The theme of the conference is Urban Biodiversity and Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation?.
URBIO is an open worldwide scientific network for education and research with the aim to promote biodiversity in the urban context through a continuing dialogue with the Convention on Biological Diversity s Global Partnership on Local Action for Biodiversity . In order to implement the Strategic Plan 2011-2020 of the CBD in the urban context the URBIO2012 will be held before CBD-COP 11, planned for Hyderabad in October 2012, and will feed into its deliberations, as well as into the second City Biodiversity Summit
With this first Announcement the organizing committee would invite for session papers on the following broad themes
- Effects of Climate change on urban biodiversity and ecosystem services
- Climate change mitigation and biodiversity design
- Climate change adaptation and biodiversity design
- Sustainable biodiversity management measures
- Climate change and urban biodiversity management
- Impact of loss in biodiversity on human well-being
