Research Associate Society for Promoting Participative Ecosystem Management (SOPPECOM), Pune is looking for a Research Associate for its work on water and water conflicts. SOPPECOM is a voluntary, non-profit organisation registered under the Societies Registration Act and its primary objective is to promote and help the rural population, especially those who are dependent on their immediate ecosystem resources like land, water and biomass resources for their livelihoods, in the self-management of these resources as part of a wider process of equitable and sustainable development. In furtherance of this objective, SOPPECOM carries out research and advocacy, lends technical and knowledge support and also carries out pilot studies and action research. Phil./Post Graduate degree in a relevant discipline. · Two to three years of research and/or work experience preferred. · Proficiency in English and good speaking/reading/writing skills in Hindi and Marathi · Capable of independent writing in English. · Publications in peer reviewed journals. Presently SOPPECOM is coordinating a project on water conflicts (Moving from Understanding Conflicts to Resolving Conflicts) on behalf of The Forum for Policy Dialogue on Water Conflicts in India). The person will be based in Pune and will be expected to contribute to ongoing SOPPECOM projects focusing mainly on the water conflict project activities. The work will involve periodic travel.
