Post-doctoral position in Epidemiology and Public Health (two years) within the Ageing and Living Conditions Programme (ALC) at the Centre for Population Studies (CPS)
CPS is an interdisciplinary centre for Swedish and international researchers and research teams within fields such as history, human geography, medicine and statistics. CPS hosts the Ageing and Living Conditions-programme (ALC) with long-term funding from the Swedish Research Council's "Linnaeus Grant". ALC was recently appointed one of the strong research environments at Umeå University.
There are three main themes of research within Ageing and Living Conditions: Ageing Population, Participation, and Successful Ageing, which are all studied from an interdisciplinary perspective (for more information, see www.ddb.umu.se/ddb-english/cps/alc)
We are now appointing a Post-doctoral fellowship (Postdoktor) for quantitative research on social determinants of health within the theme Aging and Living Conditions. The research will focus primarily on social mobility and health among elderly from the epidemiological and public health perspectives.
This is a full-time research position beginning 2011-12-01.
The appointee is expected to work at the CPS and contribute to the daily activities in the ALC research environment. The appointee will also actively collaborate with other epidemiology and public health researchers at Umeå University.
A person who has taken a doctoral degree in epidemiology, public health or other relevant area, no later than three years before the last date of the application and who has not previously held research fellow/post-doctoral fellowships is qualified to apply. Applicants who have previously held a post-doctoral fellowship for more than one year within this academic field are not eligible.
Applicants should have a documented experience of quantitative research on longitudinal data. Experience of working with fixed method analysis and event-history analysis is a merit. Knowledge in the field of social determinants of health and social mobility is an additional merit. The applicants will further be judged on the quality of their scientific publications and their relevance for the ALC.
