Professor of Global Catholicism

The University of Notre Dame invites applications for a newly established tenured

or tenure-track faculty position dedicated to the study of global Catholicism. Rank

and specialty are open; preference will be given to candidates trained in historical

or theological disciplines or methods. The successful applicant will bring expertise

in the cultures, worldviews and practices of Catholics located in the global south.

Knowledge and experience of Roman Catholicism's encounters with Islam in these

regions is relevant to this position. In addition to her or his normal teaching and

research responsibilities, the scholar will be expected to contribute to a new,

interdisciplinary research initiative, entitled "Contending Modernities: Catholic, Muslim,
