Panos South Asia invites Indian print and electronic mediajournalists to apply for a Fellowship to research the political economy and socio-cultural framework of tobacco use, with a special focus on the Bidi industry, tobacco taxation and smokeless tobacco.
The Fellowship will run from April 2011 to October 2011. Selected Fellows will be provided support by a panel of experts and awarded a grant of 2000 USD plus a budget for travel and research.
Based on their investigative work, selected fellows must produce:
1. At least five 1000 word articles or up to 10 minute broadcast pieces to be published/ broadcast before October 2011.
Applicants must submit the following no later than 31st March 2011:
? Curriculum Vitae
? Up to five samples of published/broadcast work on health/development issues
? A 500 word piece indicating how they wish to approach thefellowship
? Two references from persons known to the applicant professionally.
Indian language journalists are encouraged to apply. But their CV and write up should be in English, along with the translation of at least one work sample.
