Symbiosis Institute of International Business on behalf of Faculty of Management of Symbiosis International University, Pune, India is organizing an International Conference on Emerging Economies - Prospects and Challenges on 12th-13th January 2012.
The importance of emerging economies in the world order has gained immense attention from practitioners, researchers, academics, businesses and regulators, over the last few years. Most global economic analysts see emerging economies and markets as growth centers of the future. These economies are expected to be the drivers of future economic growth, but will also throw up complex challenges. Investor confidence in these emerging and developing nations particularly in the financial market sectors is high and these economies will show higher growth rates as compared to developed countries.
With a world population likely to touch seven billion in 2011 major challenges are foreseen: increased demand for food energy and water, access to goods and efficient services, and rising greenhouse gas emissions. In the coming decade emerging economies will play a crucial role in areas like financial markets, consumption of goods and services, trade and commerce, sustainable development, innovation, infrastructure development and research.
The conference will be interdisciplinary in nature and will explore some of the underlying opportunities and challenges in developing and emerging economies, identify key priority sectors, assess the role of social, technological, economic and environmental factors that govern society and businesses and develop a framework for strategic actions for the future.
