Call for Nominations Due October 17: Opal Mann Green Award

Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the OPAL MANN GREEN ENGAGEMENT AND SCHOLARSHIP AWARD for the fifth year. This award recognizes and memorializes Dr. Opal Mann Green's distinguished leadership and dedication to the values of:
? Using democracy in the classroom, in the community, and at home,
? Creating inclusionary teams, and
? Community-based learning and mutually-beneficial action around local issues valued by community members.
This annual recognition is awarded to two or more teams of individuals whose significant contributions and accomplishments have demonstrated excellence as engaged scholars who practice collaborative democratic strategies reflected in the Kellogg Commission Seven Part Test. The seven characteristics include responsiveness, respect for partners, academic neutrality, accessibility, integration, coordination, and resource partnerships. (See page 12 -

This recognition will reward authentic teamwork across the organizational structures within the university and community. It will reflect programs that have been valued by the community and are mutually beneficial to partners.
Historically, teams that have been recognized for their excellence by winning the Opal Mann Green Engagement and Scholarship Award have been eligible for nomination for the Outreach Scholarship/Kellogg Regional Engagement Award and the national Magrath Engagement Award.
Please nominate worthy teams in your college, department, extension center, and/or unit. Also, please share this with your faculty and staff, so that deserving teams are nominated. The deadline for submission is midnight on October 17, 2014. Additional information, including links to past award winners and application information and rules can be found at the following website: http://oe.ncsu.edu/about-us/opal-mann-green-engagement-award/
