New academic opportunities @ UNCTAD Virtual Institute

I am pleased to forward the following academic opportunities on behalf of our core Colombian Vi member coordinator, Maria Alejandra Gonzalez-Perez, and our extended network. I hope you find them of interest.

The Master of International Business (MIB) program at Universidad EAFIT in Medellín, Colombia will grant one merit-based scholarship to begin studies January 2014 to a candidate recommended by an academic member of the UNCTAD Virtual Institute. The scholarship will be awarded based on previous academic results, work/life experience, English language certification, clarity in the proposed research project, and diversity enhancement objectives of the university. Covering tuition fees only, the scholarship will be awarded on a semester-by-semester basis, upon satisfactory completion of the previous semester.

EAFIT is working with ICETEX, a Colombian government scholarship organization to provide scholarships covering living costs of international students in Colombia. Students interested in a full scholarship covering tuition (EAFIT) and living costs (ICETEX) should also apply tho http://ww.icetex.gov.co (in Spanish).

The Global Development Network's Global Research Competition is accepting expressions of interest (EOI) from developing- and transition-country researchers interested in inter-regional/cross-country research collaboration. Several grants of up to USD 32,000 will be awarded for projects on the following themes: inclusive and sustainable growth; food security; and political, economic and social transformation.

The most significant and interesting EOI will receive training and technical guidance at a global workshop before submission of the final proposals and during the course of the grant. Applications must be submitted by September 20. For more information, contact [email protected].
