 Gulati Institute of Finance and Taxation is an autonomous Institution of Government of Kerala. Our new campus funded by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, Government of India is fast nearing completion at Sreekariyam.  Ours is a Centre of excellence, engaged in research, training, consultancy and providing policy inputs to the State Government with a strong academic base and core competence in the areas of federal finance and taxation. The vision of our institute is to contribute to a just, transparent and state-of-the-art fiscal governance system that optimizes mobilisation of resources for
rational, equitable and sustainable use. Needless to say academic excellence paves the way for better tax administration.

As part of our vision, we organize lecture series and seminars with interactive sessions. In recent times, a significant topic for discussion and thoughtful insight to the tax jurisprudence is the judgment delivered by the Honble Supreme Court in VODA FONE INTERNATIONAL HOLDINGS  B.V.  Vs. UNION OF INDIA AND ANOTHER reported in (2012) 341 ITR (S.C). This judgment demands exemplary understanding not only in the Direct Taxes but Indirect Taxes too. With this in
mind, we have decided to organize a lecture series on 14 August, 2012 at 02.30pm at the Conference hall of our Institute.  Shri.R. Mohan IRS, Deputy Director, Income Tax Department and Shri.B.G. Krishnan IRS, Assistant Commissioner, Central Excise, Thrissur have consented to lead the lecture series.  The participants are expected to be senior State Government officials, University Professors, Professionals, Chartered Accountants, Company Secretaries and tax
Lawyers.
