ACAS 2011 - The Asian Conference on Asian Studies

 Call for papers: Deadline December 1 2010 
 The aim of this inaugural International Conference is to encourage academics,
 scholars and practitioners representing a exciting diversity of countries,
 cultures, and religions  to meet and exchange ideas and views in a forum
 encouraging respectful dialogue. By bringing together a number of university
 scholars working throughout Japan, Asia, and beyond to share ideas, ACAS 2011
 will afford the opportunity for renewing old acquaintances, making new
 contacts, and networking across higher education and beyond.  
 Conference Theme: "Learning from the Past: Looking to the Future" 
 There is no more exciting context than Japan through which to study
 the interdisciplinary questions of past and future, and differences and
 similarities of culture, identity, belief, and history relating to the huge
 field of Asian Studies.  The conference theme is "Learning from the Past:
 Looking to the Future" and the organizers encourage submissions that approach
 this question from a variety of perspectives. The conference will organize
 submissions around the following streams, and encourages submissions from
 scholars working in these domains:  
 Indian and South Asian Studies, South-East Asian Studies (including Thailand,
 Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos), Central Asian Studies, Chinese Studies, Japanese
 Studies, Korean Studies, Middle Eastern Studies (including Assyria, Iran,
 Egypt, Turkey), Islamic Studies, Hebrew and Judaic Studies, Comparative
 Studies of Asian and East Asian Studies

 held alongside the Asian Conference on Asian Studies. Registrants for either
 ACAS 2011 or ACCS 2011 will allow attendees the option of attending sessions
