FACULTY AND STUDENT MOBILITY PROGRAMME 2013-14

Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute announces Faculty and Student Mobility Programme 2013-14. Faculty Mobility is for Indian faculty members. Student Mobility is for Indian students pursuing masters or doctoral degree in any of the recognised universities or institutions. Through Faculty Mobility, academics and professionals may contribute to the internationalization of the curriculum/teaching at their Canadian host institutions and understand the recent developments in Canada. The Student Mobility programme is designed for Indian students enrolled in a masters or doctoral programme at Indian universities/institutions to take up/ pursue a course or do an internship at selected Canadian universities/colleges/institutions.

FACULTY MOBILITY

Faculty Mobility is designed for Indian faculty/academics from all disciplines. The recipient will be affiliated as a visiting faculty member at the host university, college, or research institution, and will (i) teach courses (individually or in a group), or (ii) offer a series of lectures as part of a course or on topic of interest at the host institution. Through Faculty Mobility, academics and professionals may contribute to internationalization of the curriculum/teaching at their Canadian host institutions and understand the recent developments in Canada.

Eligibility Criteria/Requirements:

An applicant should be a full-time faculty member of a recognized university or institution of higher education or an equivalent degree-granting institution in India;

The Applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of India;

The Application should be routed through the proper channel.

Duration: Four Weeks

STUDENT MOBILITY

The Student Mobility programme is designed for Indian students enrolled in a masters or doctoral programme at recognised Indian universities or institutions of higher education to take up/ pursue a course or do an internship at recognised Canadian universities, colleges or institutions. The recipient will be affiliated as a student/ intern at a Canadian college, university, research institution or an organization in the developmental sector, and will pursue a course (module/part of a course), or undertake a project or internship at the host institution in Canada.

Eligibility Criteria/ Requirements

An applicant should be pursuing a Masters or Doctoral Degree in an Indian University/ Institution;

The applicant should have completed an equivalent of a Canadian bachelor's degree from a recognized Indian university with at least 55% marks;

The applicant should have some (paid or voluntary) professional or work experience relevant to his/ her proposed field of study;

The applicant should not have another degree from a Canadian university or be enrolled in a Canadian degree program;

The applicant must be a citizen or a permanent resident of India;

The applicant should demonstrate proficiency in oral and written English, and should preferably be in the age group of 21-30 years.

The Application should be routed through the proper channel.

Duration: Five Weeks

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR FACULTY AND STUDENT MOBILITY

Applicants should be familiar with the Canadian educational system.

Applicants will need to have a letter of affiliation from a Canadian institution at the time of applying. It is expected that all applicants correspond, in advance, with potential host institutions.

Preference will be given to applicants from SICI member institutions in India as also for affiliation to member institutions in Canada.

The selected applicant / awardee will have to complete his / her travel between 1st June 2013 to 31st March 2014.

The applicant who has availed/ received this award or fellowship earlier, is not eligible to apply.

Grant Benefits

The fellowship provides round-trip economy class air travel and monthly stipend as per the policy of the Institute.
