Research Assistant Needed for U.S.-based Professor
Job Description: Dr. Smitha Radhakrishnan of Wellesley College in Massachusetts
is currently conducting research on microenterprise education in Karnataka,
Tamil Nadu and Kerala. A research assistant will accompany Dr. Radhakrishnan
to trainings, provide help with translation, conduct interviews with clients and
trainers, and provide transcription services. The position will
require about three
field visits per week, and up to two other day's worth of work per
week on interview
transcription. Workload will vary according to what is happening at
the field sites.
Requirements:
? Currently seeking assistant with native fluency in Kannada. Fluency in Tamil
and/or Malayalam a plus.
? Excellent English communication skills required.
? Minimum Bachelor's degree, some postgraduate education preferred.
? Familiarity with social research or qualitative research methods preferred.
? Intellectual curiosity, spunk, and willingness to learn, explore, and work
independently extremely important.
? Daytime availability for at least 3 days per week in the Bangalore area
required. Additional 2 days' worth of work can be done independently.
? February 27th-June 29th with possibility for continued part-time work
thereafter
Compensation: Rs. 1750/day plus transport costs (A typical day will
last 6-8 hours,
including transport). Salary will be paid by cheque in US Dollars, and
will arrive
about 4-6 weeks after invoice.
