Panel Discussion on Big Data in the Social Sciences

Steve McDonald from the Sociology and Anthropology Department writes:

The Sociology & Anthropology department is sponsoring a panel discussion on Big Data in the Social Sciences on March 6 from 3:30-5p (see the flyer flyer for details). We are bringing in two prominent scholars (Ryan Light from U of Oregon & Chris Bail from UNC) who are leaders in this field in sociology, plus A. J. Faas, a postdoc in the Public Administration department who is an anthropologist by training who also conducts fascinating research using Big Data techniques. Given the recent initiatives at the university level focusing on big data analytics, we felt like this would be a great opportunity to showcase the contributions made by social scientists to the big data phenomenon.
We are also holding a reception afterward in Caldwell Lounge from 5-6p.

I would encourage you to attend and to spread the word about this event. Thanks!
