Maximizing Research Impact

Preparing for Publication

  1. Use the same variation of your name consistently throughout your academic career.
  2. Use a standardized institutional affiliation and address, using no abbreviations.
  3. Assign keyword terms to the manuscript.
  4. Formulate a concise, well-constructed title and abstract.
  5. Present preliminary research findings at a meeting or conference.
  6. Partner with industry for a research project.

Dissemination

  1. Submit the manuscript to a digital subject repository, such as arXiv or RePEc.
  2. Submit the manuscript to UC Research Repository.
  3. Publish your work in an open access journal.
  4. Set up a web site devoted to your research and post manuscripts of
    publications, conference abstracts and supplemental materials.
  5. Be aware of how search engines locate documents and enhance retrieval of your research project web site by search engines.
