Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award
Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, Delhi had instituted the
Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence in Public
Administration, Academics and Management in 2000. The honour carries a
cash award of Rs. Five lakh, a Citation and a Plaque. The awardees are
designated as Lal Bahadur Shastri Fellows and their names are
inscribed on the roll of honours of the Institute. Ten years hence,
the recipients of the esteemed award have been eminent personalities
of the nation like Dr. C. K. Prahlad, Mr. Sam Pitroda and Dr. E.
Sreedharan.
This year, The twelfth Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for
Excellence in Public Administration, Academics and Management was
presented to Prof. Yash Pal in recognition of his outstanding
contribution in the field of Astrophysics, Space Technology, Education
and most importantly for popularizing science, by the Honourable
President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, at the Rashtrapati
Bhavan on October 15, 2011
