Qualifications:
Assistant Professor in Centre for Study of Social Change and Development (CSSCD)
Essential:
a) Master's Degree in Sociology/Social Anthropology or in any other Social Science
(preferably Economics, Political Science and Social Work) with a minimum of 50% marks in
the aggregate
b) Ph.D or published work of equivalent standard in the relevant with issues of Sociological significance
c) 3 years teaching and/or research experience in the field mentioned above
d) Publications in reputed journals in the above mentioned field.
Desirable :
(a) Specialisation (supported by Teaching/Research Experience and Publication) in any of the field below:
(i) Sociology/Social Anthropology of Religion
(ii) Caste and Dalit Studies
(iii) Culture and Media Studies
(iv) Natural Resource Management
(v) Ecology and Environmental Studies
(vi) Quantitative Methods
(vii) Gender Studies
(viii) Other Issues of Sociological significance
(b) Knowledge of Kannada (atleast to speak).
Assistant Professor in Centre for Economic Studies and Policy (CESP)
Essential:
a) Master's Degree in Economics with 50% marks in the aggregate.
b) Ph.D. or published work of equivalent standard in the subject;
c) 3 years teaching and/or research experience in the subject;
d) Publications in the subject.
Desirable :
a) Capability of undertaking independent research in collaboration with national and
international organizations.
b) Ability to supervise and guide doctoral research leading to Ph.D.
c) Ability to mobilize funds for research activities of ISEC from government agencies and other national and international organizations.
d) Preference will be given to candidates having experience in conducting training programmes of similar institutions and willing to participate in teaching/research programme.
e) Familiarity with computer and statistical packages.
f) Work experience/specialization in the area of public economics/infrastructure economics.
g) Knowledge of Kannada (atleast to speak).
Deputy Librarian
Essential:
a. Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences with I or II Class and M.Lib Sc. I or II Class
OR
Master's Degree in Social Sciences with I or II Class and M.Lib. Sc I or II Class
b. 7 years teaching and/or research experience in the subject
Desirable:
a. Ph.D. or published work of equivalent standard in Library Science or Information Science.
b. Training in computer application for library/information technology.
c. Knowledge of Kannada (atleast to speak).
Age Limit:
· Normally below 35 years for Assistant Professors and below 45 years for Deputy Librarian.
· Age shall be calculated as on last date prescribed for receipt of completed applications.
· Proof of age is SSLC/Transfer Certificate.
· The age limit is relaxed without any limit in case of employees of the Institute (including Project Staff).
· In case of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes, the age limit is relaxable up to 5 years.
· Candidates claiming relaxation of age are required to produce caste certificate issued by a competent authority.
· Candidates not fulfilling the age criterion may also apply subject to their applications being open to be considered only in the event of no suitable candidate from among those who fulfill the age criterion being available.
Duration: The appointment for the above posts will be on contract basis for a period of 5 years, including one year of probation. Depending on the evaluation at the end of the contract period, the appointment shall either be made permanent or the contract extended or terminated.
Scale of Pay: Assistant Professor : Rs.15,600 ? 39,000 + AGP Rs.6,000/-
Deputy Librarian : Rs.15,600 ? 39,000 + AGP Rs.8,000/-
Exceptionally qualified candidates suitable for the post may be offered higher pay, but not exceeding the maximum for the post.
Selection Procedure: Selection will be made on the basis of interview of short-listed candidates. However, mere satisfying the eligibility norms does not entitle a candidate to be called for the interview. Depending upon the number of applications received in relation to number of vacancies, the Institute reserves the right to call only a limited number of candidates after preliminary screening with reference to their qualifications, suitability, experience, etc. The Selection Committee may relax qualification (age only) in exceptional cases and also consider suitable candidates from outside the list of applicants.
