International Conference on Applied Business Research - ICABR 2013 22nd to 26th April 2013 College Street Campus, 88 Buffalo Street, East London, South Africa After previous conferences held in Bangkok, Beijing, Brno, Accra, Valletta, Ras Al Khaimah and Johor Bahru this year's conference will be held in East London. The purpose of the 8th annual world conference ICABR is to stimulate research and to foster interaction of researchers in Applied Business and Economic Research. The latest developments and newest techniques in all areas of business and business applications are of special interest. Contributions dealing with issues related to regional and global consequences and impacts of financial and economic crisis are also welcomed this year. Practice and Relevance in Developing Knowledge and Wisdom In the light of a 'practice turn' in management theory, we seek innovative papers that enable bridging gaps between Theory and Practice. What and how we apply theories will affect opportunities and lives of people in both developing and developed regions. The practitioner has the logic of his or her own. How can theories be developed that accommodate this practical logic and how can these theories be made relevant to their local conditions and cultures? ICABR is a multi/inter-disciplinary conference focusing on applied business and development research and emphases the prospects of new ideas, methods and their application in supporting the development of positive social and economic values. The conference therefore seeks stimulating papers that provoke thoughts and share and extend knowledge, practice, and techniques. Analytical and empirical papers are both welcome. Potential areas of interest include - but are not limited to: - Economic Development and Globalization - World Financial and Economic Crisis and Impacts, Lessons and Prospects for the Future - Business Research Methods and Teaching-related issues - Growth and Innovation - Sustainable Development and Resource Management - Business Law and Ethics and Social Responsibility - Public Administration and Regional Development - Rural Development and SME Development - Environmental Resources and Potential/Limits to Economic Development - Management Science and Strategic, operational, production management - International Business and Management - Tourism and Hospitality Management - Agribusiness - Innovative Business Models and Organizational Change - Capital Resources and Financing Entrepreneurship - Consumer Behavior and Marketing - Information Science and Technology and Business information systems - IT Governance and E-Business - Human Resources and Healthcare management, Human Resource management, Education - Indigenous Management Studies - Other issues related to the economic, social, political, and technical factors that influence decisions that support value creation in social and economic markets.
