International Conference: Governance, Democracy and Political Parties

The Department of Political Science, University of Hyderabad, and the Centre for Citizenship and Globalisation, Deakin

University (Melbourne, Australia) are the joint organizers of an international conference on 'Governance, Democracy and

Political Parties'.

The objective of the conference is to examine and analyse contemporary transformations of parties and party systems,

and their implications for democracy and governance, with special focus on India, Australia and other countries in Asia.

Keynote Speakers

We are delighted to con? rm Professor Yogendra Yadav (Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, Delhi) and Professor

James Manor (Institute for Commonwealth Studies, University of London) as keynote speakers.

Workshop: Political parties and varieties of capitalism in Asia

As part of the conference, a special workshop will be organized on 'varieties of capitalism' in Asia. We trace continuity

and change in the evolution of the Asian 'model' (or models) by focusing on the capacity of states to manage economies,

and to collaborate with the private sector in pursuit of national economic development.
