Fellowship @ IAS Durban

Fellowship Scheme
Applications for Fellowship in 2013-14 are now being accepted until Sunday 17th June 2012.
At the core of IAS activities lies a funded fellowship programme. This allows the IAS to host intellectuals and public figures of world class standing drawn from the full spectrum of science, social science and arts and humanities disciplines. They are available to scholars and  non-academics (e.g. intellectuals, artists, writers, journalists, policy makers, and politicians) throughout the UK and abroad.

Research
Most fellows will contribute to the Institute's annual theme, which is normally publicised a year in advance. An IAS fellowship provides the holder with the space and time to develop their research and ideas in a thriving academic community of scholars of national and international standing. Fellows will engage and forge strong links with at least one department at Durham, and be given the opportunity to deliver papers at events organised to coincide with the annual theme.

Duration
Fellowships are normally offered for a three-month period and the IAS supports up to 10 fellowships per semester. The first semester covers the period October to December, the second semester covers the period January to March. IAS Fellowships are not available during April-June or the Christmas and Summer vacations.
