MIDS is a leading social science research institute funded jointly by the ICSSR, Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu, conceived and founded by Prof. Malcolm Adiseshiah, a renowned development economist and educationist, in 1971. MIDS is engaged in analytical and policy research in different branches of social sciences, carried out by members of the faculty
and Ph.D. scholars. Details of the work of MIDS can be obtained at www.mids.ac.in MIDS is looking for a Director as the term of the present
incumbent ends on April 1, 2014. The Director should be a distinguished social scientist with scholarly achievements and administrative capabilities. He/she will be appointed by the Governing Council of MIDS, on the basis of the recommendation from the Search/Selection Committee, for a term of ? ve years, with the possibility of a second term, subject to superannuation at 65 years of age. The position is in the rank of UGC professor with additional emoluments applicable to the position.
