UGC APPROVED ONE-YEAR CAREER-ORIENTED CERTIFICATE COURSE IN APPLIED SOCIOLOGY

JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY

Applications are invited for admission to the UGC approved 1-year career-oriented Certificate Course (Evening) in Applied Sociology as part of 3-year course (Certificate Course in the first year, Diploma in the second, and Advanced Diploma in the third year) in Applied Sociology to commence from 7^th June 2010 under Department of Sociology, Jadavpur University.

Eligibility: Current undergraduate students are eligible. Number of Seats: 30.Selection Criteria: Written Test and Interview Course Fee:  Rs. 4000 (one time consolidated at the time of admission) for the Certificate Course.

Application forms may be downloaded from the University website and to be submitted either in person or through a messenger at the office of the Department of Sociology along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 50 drawn in favor of Jadavpur University, as application fee during working hours (11a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays to Fridays) between 12^th April 2010 and 23^rd April 2010. Last date for the submission of forms is 23^rd April 2010. All application forms must be properly filled in. Incomplete or irregular forms will be rejected. Applications received after the last date will not be entertained. Date for written test: 26^th April 2010. List of candidates who will qualify in the written test will be published on 28^th April 2010 at the Department of Sociology, Jadavpur University. Date of interview for those who will qualify in the written test: 29^th April 2010. Final list of selected candidates and date of admission will be published: 30^th April 2010. Reservations for ST/SC/PH and others will be made as per University rules.

Acceptance of the application does not guarantee issue of admit card or call to interview or admission test, or actual admission. The application fee is not refundable under any circumstances. The relevant document as a proof of present undergraduate studentship is to be produced at the time of written test or interview. Any candidate who does not satisfy the criteria of eligibility will not be considered for admission, even if he or she appears at the written test or interview or is selected by mistake.  Candidates must report for the written test or interview half an hour before the scheduled time. Grant of interview does not confer right to admission. Failure to appear at the interview or viva-voce, where held, will cancel the candidate's right to admission. The conditions for eligibility, and rules and regulations for admission, may be altered and modified from time to time, subject to the approval of the Executive Council and/or Court of the University.
